Rio Dulce

Guatemala's Rio Dulce, translated to mean "Sweet River," lives up to its name. This charming river travels down a large swath of the country and ends in Belize. Travelers interested in journeying into Belize from Guate can take a day riding down the Rio Dulce to the Caribbean.

It's also a beautiful spot to find a nice guesthouse or hostel and relax in a hammock. Life is slow on the Rio Dulce and it's a gorgeous part of Guatemala overlooked by many.
