Lake Atitlan
Nearly every traveler visiting Guatemala heads to Lake Atitlán, the gorgeous volcanic lake in the center of the country. It's a bit of a tourist-centric expereince, but there's still a lot to love about visiting the Lake. Mostly, it's gorgeous and relaxing. There are fewer cultural activities around the lake, although it does make an easy daytrip to the Chichicastenango market.
I stayed in San Pedro, and enjoyed the lakeside coffees, sunrises, and the misty boats on the lake at dawn. It's a pretty spot to rest and recharge, and it also offers a lot of Spanish schools too, which is popular with travelers.
My full travel guide includes advice on the best sites and navigating the country, as well as recommendations for Spanish language schools, and cultural activities. View the full Guatemala Travel Guide here:
